Spring Equinox Ritual:

Step 1: Spring cleaning your home. Declutter, donate, sell and trash anything that no longer sparks joy or that you no longer use will bring fresh energy into your space.

Step 2: Deep cleaning of your home to remove dust and dirt (preferably with non-toxic cleaning solutions)

Step 3: Seal the cleansing and clearing of your space by smudging to diffuse any stagnant or negative energy from the wintertime. (see How to Use A Smudge Kit Below)

How to Use A Smudge Kit:

Make sure a window and front door are open so you can allow energy to move throughout the space when performing this ritual.

Step 1: Hold the sage smudge stick at one end and light the other end, gently blow the fire out so it creates a stream of smoke.

Step 2: Take the feather in your other hand, and walk around your space fanning the clearing smoke with the feather. Fan it up and down, and side to side to honor the four directions and four elements of water, earth, fire, and water.

Step 3: As you are walking and fanning the smoke around your space, repeat out loud:

"Dear Universe [or insert any higher power here], please clear any energies that are no longer serving my higher purpose. I ask that only love, light, he@lth, we@lth, happiness, and abundance fills this space. And so it is."

Step 4: To set down the lit or still-hot smudge, place it in the abalone shell. Pass the feather through the smoke one last time to clear away any energies it absorbed so it is ready to be used again for the next smudging.

Step 5: Hold the palo santo downward at a 45-degree angle and light it. Let the stick burn for about 30 seconds (let it burn longer than the sage). Blow out the flame. Place the stick in a heatproof dish to let it burn. Palo Santo clears negative energy and restores tranquility and calm emotions. The perfect way to end your Spring Cleaning Ritual and infuse your freshly cleansed space with sweet notes of pine, mint, and lemon.
